Lux Mediævis
LPV24-200x200

Lux Mediaevis is a ‘low-cost’ recording without a presentation booklet ; it is made up half of previously recorded pieces, and half of pieces from a recording session engineered by Jean-Marc Laisné at the church of Le Coudray Macouard in 2010.

The pieces are taken from French, Iberian, German, Czech, English and Italian manuscripts. They thus provide a virtually exhaustive overview of mediaeval music from the XIIth to the XVth century.

This extreme diversity is further highlighted by the variety of vocal arrangements, women’s voices, mixed voices, solo songs accompanied by a wide range of instruments : mediaeval flutes and recorders, bowed viols, mediaeval harps and lute, Saracen guitar, mediaeval hurdy-gurdy, set of bells, percussions.

L’idée centrale de ce disque, qui se place sous l’ombre tutélaire de Claude Debussy : offrir des exemples d’écriture virtuose pour le piano dans des œuvres de quatre jeunes compositeurs français nés entre 1965 et 1975.
